IMIA's experienced professionals are the
most important factor that distinguishes IMIA from its competitors.
With proven track records in their field of expertise, both management
and technicians bring creative solutions and on-time results to
each projects.
We come to you! Whether at an East Coast shipyard or a pier in
the Gulf, we bring our team to you. Our staff of electricians,
D.H. technicians, mechanics, equipment operators, QC personnel
will ensure we meet or exceed certification requirements. Their
combined skills and follow-through productivity ensure a safe,
rapid turnaround. When a shipyard is not available, IMIA provides
our client with a facility to perform tank-lining applications
along the East and Gulf coasts.
The Proven “Best Value” In Submarine Preservation
Since 2000, IMIA has
been the dominant submarine abrasive blast and critical coatings
preservation contractor. Navy preservation in general, and submarine
tank/recess preservation in particular, presents unique challenges
due to difficult geometries, stringent quality standards, and
aggressive scheduling. With 32 on time submarine contracts executed
to date, our submarine preservation crews have demonstrated the
key skills and drive needed to succeed in this demanding task.
Since 2001, IMIA has been the dominant submarine abrasive blast
and critical coatings preservation contractor for the U.S. Navy.
Our recent work history includes the execution of all but two
out-sourced major submarine preservation projects at Trident Refit
Facility, Kings Bay. Additionally we have performed all the major
out-sourced preservation work on 688 Class submarines at NNSY
and are Electric Boat’s preservation provider for the SSGN
Conversion projects at both Norfolk and Puget Sound Naval Shipyards.
Most recently, we have been selected to accomplish the preservation
package for the COLUMBUS DMP at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard—this
package (which includes blast and coat with Ultra High Solids
of all Main Ballast Tanks) is the largest ever to be contracted
out.
Navy critical coating tank preservation in general, and submarine
tank/superstructure preservation in particular, presents unique
challenges due to the difficult geometries, stringent quality
standards, and aggressive schedules. With 27 on time, on quality
complex submarine contracts executed to date, our submarine preservation
crews have demonstrated the key skills and drive needed to succeed
in this demanding task. Given the frequent, well-documented difficulties
experienced in the execution of submarine preservation contracts,
IMIA’s superior track record becomes especially significant
when evaluating technical/ schedule/ management) risk to the project.
The IMIA team’s success in submarine tank/space preservation
is founded on two principles: technical excellence and superior
production management at the deck-plates. Our personnel are trained
to both Submarine Maintenance Std. 6310-081-015 and S-9086-VD-STM-010/
Chapter 631, as well as, the latest operating techniques of plural
component paint equipment. Additionally, as illustrated by the
enclosed submarine blast/coat overview sheet, our crews have the
class-specific experience needed to achieve superior quality surface
prep and coatings application in the uniquely demanding conditions
of submarine tanks/spaces—on schedule. Our technical prowess
has earned IMIA Sherwin William’s CQC certification for
the application of complex coatings.
Equally important to our success in the submarine preservation
arena is IMIA's approach to deck-plate level production management.
Our proven system of in-process expert supervision for both blasters
and sprayers achieves a higher quality of blast/coat on the first
pass. This results in less time-consuming “pick-up”
power tooling and “touch-up” with better performance
to schedule as the obvious outcome. As a side benefit, our production
process allows for a realistic, real-time assessment of production
progress by the government and contractor alike. In an IMIA job,
there is no “hidden” schedule impact due to extensive
touch-up often found in complex tank preservation packages.
